Since November 2022, Huy Hoang has served remotely as a Data Scientist at Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Florida, leading projects in decision science and advanced analytics. In parallel, he joined The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) in August 2023 as Head Learning Facilitator for graduate‑level machine‑learning courses (Masters of Computer Science, Data Science and AI programs) and has also been a Graduate Teaching Assistant there since early 2023. Since 2019 he has taught part‑time as a Professor at North American University and previously taught undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and data science at institutions including the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2011–2022) and University of Houston–Clear Lake (2019–2020).

Huy Hoang also contributes to the broader data‑science community as a technical reviewer for Cambridge University Press (Dec 2020–Dec 2024) and Packt (Jan 2023–Dec 2024), and he authored the book Building Statistical Models in Python (Packt, 2022–2023), covering regression, classification, time‑series and survival‑analysis modeling. Earlier in his career he was a principal scientist at CNRS in France (2017–2021), a data scientist at AccentCare (Jun 2021–Nov 2022) and held research and teaching roles at Southern Methodist University. He also served on the board of directors at DataReady DFW and has undertaken visiting research appointments across Europe and the Americas.

Academically, Huy Hoang holds a PhD in Mathematics (summa cum laude) from the University of Pau and Adour Countries (2004–2008), where his thesis focused on the Navier–Stokes equations and elliptic problems in unbounded domains. He earned Master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics (2003–2004) and Data Science (Southern Methodist University, 2019–2021, GPA 4.0) and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at UT Austin (expected May 2026). His extensive list of certifications spans online learning, deep learning, optimization, NLP, data governance, healthcare systems engineering and AWS cloud technologies.

He has significant experience with Python, R, SQL, SAS, cloud platforms (AWS), database management and tools such as Git, Qlik Sense and Tableau.
